Sweet Soiree!

We celebrated Cate's fourth birthday on Sunday with a few of her new little friends.   It was a hodge-podge of things, but the central force in making it fun was one of Cate's favorite teachers, Liz, from the Art Room.  We found Liz just before we moved into our house, and she has been one of our best finds in Charlotte.  She has a quaint studio a few blocks from our house amidst antique shops and design stores - just where you would want to find art.  While we were waiting on finding a preschool for Cate, Cate went to art class twice a week with Liz, and it was a wonderful source for Cate.  She led the party with stories, songs (she also teaches Music Together), princess crafts, and some piñata batting.  Here's a few pictures from the festivities!

Liz reading a princess story to the group . . .

The girls painting tiaras . . .

And making necklaces. . .

One of the best parts was attacking the piñata.  Bella, our neighbor was a serious star batter.  I thought for sure I would have to sneak in with a knife and open it, but they kept going and were able to open it with the just bat.

Watching the uninhibited hands of four-year olds go for the load of candy and toys as they fell to the floor was priceless.

A shot of Cate with her cake.  Yes, she blew out all the candles this year without help!

Happy Birthday, sweet girl Cate!  We love you.
