First, and the most exciting, Emma took her first steps today. It was literally two steps, late this afternoon, and she wouldn't repeat it for the camera. I am sure that will change tomorrow or the next day so stay tuned.
Now, a little backtracking. Our first Christmas stop was a visit to my parents and family in Texas. Here are a few shots of good moments . . .
Cate and her cousins ready to board the Polar Express . . .
Christmas Eve . . . ready to party . . .
And open gifts, of course . . .
Sweet Emma so proud of her puppy dog from Santa . . .
Happy New Year's from Naples with Grandma and Grandpa . . .
Emma glad that she is FINALLY upright like her sister, Cate mesmerized that Emma is ACTUALLY upright and outside and trying to keep up with her. . .
Cate climbing aboard the newest member of the family - Papa Bear!
An example of Emma climbing into any anything she can these days . . .
Swinging just doesn't get old, and neither do warm, sunny January days in DC . . .
I think Emma has learned that sand really doesn't taste good.
Cate supervising and executing the production of two-layer birthday cakes . . . I would say we average about two pretend birthday celebrations a day around here. . .
Cate the ballerina in action . . . I will work on some better footage in the coming weeks. It doesn't get much better than this for Cate - she is able to wear all pink while donning dress-up tutus and other girly props. When she is not distracted by looking at herself in the mirror or monitoring Emma and me on the green bench where we are instructed to stay and watch her, she seems to be picking up a few moves and the ability to run in a circle (who knew that is actually takes skill)!
