Emma's World Just Got a Little Bigger

Emma took a try with rice cereal last night.  I was considering holding off until we returned from vacation to start solids, but after watching her lunge for my apple I was eating, and trying to swipe Cate's milk cup for a drink, I decided it was the right time.  Emma was giggling and smiling with excitement that I think only 3 teaspoons made it in.

And Sister Cate makes sure Emma tries new things.  Recently, every time we are on the baby swings with Cate, Cate asks for Emma to swing with her.  Emma is a good sport and goes for a ride now!

Summer is Here...

Or at least the weather feels like summer outside.  Cate donned her fish swimsuit, and I put out her flower sprinkler for a chance to enjoy being outside on a humid 90 degree afternoon.  Cate approached the sprinkler as she does most new things - cautiously.  She would tiptoe in, and then run out.  Eventually she decided it was worth hanging out in and getting wet.

Playground Coming Soon!

Cate, Emma and I are monitoring the progress of the Chevy Chase playground reconstruction very closely. It looks like it will be open by the time we return from vacation.  It has lots of new equipment, a spray park, and is about 3 blocks away.  In the meantime, we make do and scooter around Wisconsin Place shops.  It's quiet during the weekdays, and the sales people like to come out and visit Cate, who was clearly in charge of dressing herself this day.

If the Shoe Fits...

Cate recently pulled Charlie into Cole Haan, and asked the sales lady if she had any purple shoes.  While they laughed, she went and pulled these off the shelves and put them on.  Everyone was giving her kudos for picking out a matching pair.  I liked them myself, and almost purchased them in yellow, but they weren't a good fit for my foot.   That is a good thing though, so I can save my shopping money for our nearing trip!

Pajama Party!

It doesn't get much better than this!  Cate and Emma right out of the bath ready for pajamas.   Just wanted to share a glimpse of one of my favorite moments of the day - Cate and Emma playing together on the floor before bedtime.  Of course, the adorable giggles between the two of them moved focus to me the instant I popped my phone out to catch a shot!
